Boasting a membership over 4 million, IWantU.com is a veritable treasure-trove of potential playmates. Features that are now standard across nearly every online dating site are, of course, also found on IwantU.com; private messaging, live chat rooms, video chat, personalized email address and favorite/ignore list. If you’re looking for an alternative to the drudgery of another dating site, it’s doubtful you’ll find IWantU.com lacking.
Post sign-up and after a quick cursory search through the database, the site dug up over a hundred potential dates in my designated area. Thankfully, most profiles featured a photo (more often than not, a pretty racy pic) and enough information to decide whether you’d want to make contact or let this one slide. Once you’ve found someone that piques your interest, it’s a breeze to message them or simply “wink” and let them know they’re one of the good ones.
They webmasters have also fully embraced video, with video chats and the option to add a 30-second welcome video to your profile.
Got a sexy voice? Show off your pipes and charm numerous ladies or gents’ pants off. Sure beats a couple of dull photos.
IWantU.com takes their job seriously, and the introduction of some recent technological advancements proves this. The most intriguing is the automated telephone system; once you think you’ve established something of a bond with another member, you can use the website to set up a phone call and, without divulging either members’ number, safely and easily have a relaxed chat (or maybe something a little more steamy) with someone new.
If you’re always on the go, you can also opt to have alerts sent to your GPS-enabled phone whenever a potential playmate is in your area. Instant travel hook-ups? You don’t find that everywhere!
The aptly named ‘Aphrodite’ feature vows to send each member automated emails containing potential dates for their perusal, presumably after the robotic-goddess of love scans the online horoscopes to ensure compatibility. There’s also a wealth of personal ads covering a variety of tastes and interests, although they may be a tad difficult to find due to the rather busy and chaotic site design.
A free membership is enough to look around and get a feeling for the community, but without signing up for a VIP or VIP Select membership (90 days for $49.95 and $59.95 respectively) it’s probably not going to be enough to make you revoke your other online dating memberships.
